Two fake money dealers Ferdinand Cheukep Sandjo, 43 and Jacques Etoga Etoga, 20, are under custody at the national gendarmerie headquarters in Yaounde.
They were arrested on Sunday August 27, 2012 at the Emombo neighbourhood in Yaounde for getting involved in fake money dealing. Reports say the dealers as well as several others who are still on the run are specialised in crooking people and collecting huge sums of money from the promising to double their money. According to the reports, the dealers hang around strategic corners in the city in search desperate people to deceive end extort several millions from them.
A source at the Central Judicial Research Unit of the National Gendarmerie said the operation was made possible with the support of the population who gave the gendarmes necessary information on their fraudulent activities such as crockery, counterfeiting, among others. It should be recalled that such fraudulent activities are reprimanded by the articles 74, 96, 215 and 318 of the penal code. Three of the dealers are said to be on the run. How ever investigations are going on to find the culprits.
