Robbers attack english high school in Yaounde

A gang of thieves allegedly stole the safe and other valuable equipment on Monday.

The dust is yet to settle following a robbery case at the English High School Yaounde on Monday October 29, 2012. Reports say a gang of thieves allegedly broke into the school campus at night and made away with the school safe, a vehicle and other valuable documents. According to the sources close to the school situated around the Scalom junction in the Obili neighbourhood the whereabouts of the school watchmen cannot be traced since the day of the incident.

At the English High School campus yesterday November 1, 2012 the atmosphere was calm. Teachers and students were busy with studies while some visitors, journalists and sympathisers trooped in to get information on the robbery case. No detailed information has been filtered out as officials of the school have decided not to comment to the press while waiting for the gendarmerie to complete its investigations. That notwithstanding, suspicion is high that the watchmen were either accomplices and have run away into hiding or must have been taken as hostages by the bandits. Meanwhile, elements of the gendarmerie are intensifying their search in the country to find the culprits.

It should be recalled robbery in schools is a common phenomenon in the country recently. Sacred Heart Mankon, Bamenda, Sasse College Buea, PNEU Yaounde, Ecole Les Bambis Yaounde have bee victims of robbery since August 2012.
