Robbers hold petrol station workers hostage

Elements of the Rapid Intervention Unit in Douala and those of the Eighth District Police Station have recovered an Italian-made automatic pistol from armed robbers.

The story goes that two armed men on board a motorcycle tried in vain to burgle the SAFANA Petrol Station at the ELF Axe Lourd Neighbourhood at about 3am on Monday. They took two petrol station workers hostage with the help of the gun, ordering them to lie on the floor. Their orders were obeyed by the petrol station workers. However, the two armed robbers were panic-stricken when they noticed that the police was closing up on them. The eight-milimetre Napoleon model automatic pistol fell off from the hands of one of the bandits while his friend rode off at breakneck speed. The ESIR team led by Police Inspector, Emmanuel Christian Melingui, took the gun to the Superintendent, where investigations have been opened to arrest the members of the gang.
