A fourth suspect is still at large over the brutal murder of a Cameroonian musician in China according to Chinese sources. The police department in Fuzhou, capital of the Chinese province of Fujian, has already arrested three suspects accused of the fatal stabbing of George Ambe last month.
"For now, the police have already arrested three suspects. It is based on the interrogation of these suspects that will uncover the truth surrounding the murder to police," says Hua Chunying, spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, as quoted by Cameroon Tribune in its June 25 edition.
According to Chinese media, the deceased had been living in China for nearly a decade, when he was stabbed to death at around 4:00 am on June 16. He had just left a nightclub in the province of Fujian when the attack happened but the gang of perpetrators had fled before police arrived at the scene.
According Fuzhouexpat, a website which provides a platform for expatriates living in Fuzhou, Ambe was attacked because of an affair he had with a Chinese citizen. Witnesses say they saw armed men pursuing an African before beating and stabbing him to death.
The crime occurred north of Fuxin Road, near the building of Yuefeng Fuzhou, a common place for foreign attacks according to a source.
George Ambe, also called "the one" when he was on stage, is a native of north-western Cameroon. He leaves behind a wife of Russian nationality, Alla ozhigina, and two daughters.
