185 million FCfa set aside for 'jeux de lumière' in Douala

The amount moved from the 30 million CFA francs used last year to 185 million. About 26 sites across the economic capital will be illuminated for the 2014 end of year.

The revelation was made on September 25 during the conciliation meeting between the urban community of Douala and the market companies for the rehabilitation of the city.

The beautification of the city of Douala operation took a big budget bond, particularly in the context of the celebration of the 2014 end of year. A 185 million CFAF envelope was provided for this purpose.

26 sites will be illuminated including the Government of Bonanjo square. It should be noted that the package put into play by the urban community of Douala (Cud) this year far exceeds that of 2013, rated at 30 million CFAF.

However, according to the French, Alain Martin, supervisor of the said radiation work, the funds allocated by the Cud is far from complete with 300 million disbursed by the urban community of Yaoundé to illuminate the political capital during the 2014 end of year.

The supervisor added that about 100 sites are involved in the political capital, against 26 in Douala. And to ensure that the city sparkles in December, a nod was made to companies whose facades are highly visible in the economic capital. Each of them will have to reassure personally, good brightness and beautification of its facades.

With regards to the State of progress of the work, the Cud is satisfied with the rate of progress. This is the case for example of the work of the northerly prolongation of the Boulevard de la République in Douala 5th, work carried out by the military engineering.
