Nineteen-year-old Sally Anne Williams, an Upper Sixth student of the New Horizon International High School has been crowned Limbe Beauty Queen.

She emerged as Miss Limbe 2015 on Saturday, March 28, during a competitive beauty pageant which saw a cream of 14 other young beauties parade before a five-man jury in Limbe.

After the jury, headed by Hon Gladys Etombi pronounced her the winner, Anne Williams flaunted her essence in ecstasy. She had just become the latest beauty queen in town.

She takes home a cash prize of FCFA 500,000 which was announced just at the final stage.

“I am so excited and I want to give thanks to God because, if not for Him, I couldn’t have been here today,” Anne Williams said. Vanesa Kale, another student from the Presbyterian Youth Centre, PYC, Limbe came second.

Kale took home a cash prize of FCFA 350,000, while Angel Sama from the Kulu Memorial High School Limbe, a native of Bimbia, Limbe III Subdivision, said she was happy to have been part of the competition “though it was tough and challenging.” For her beauty, she earned FCFA 250,000 as the second runner up.

Their prizes will be handed over on Sunday, April 11, by the Committee in charge of the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture.

The beauty contest was an innovation and the first item on a series of events to mark this year’s Festival. The opening, on April 4, according to the Local Organising Committee, shall be presided over by the Minister of Arts and Culture, Ama Tutu Muna.

The cultural displays shall also involve a series of musical concerts with iconic names on Cameroon’s musical repertoire scheduled to go on stage during the cultural week.

Among them is the age-old Papa Salle John, Ndedi Eyango, Prince Afo’Akom, Claudia Dikosso, François Misse Ngoh, Petit Pays and many others.
