If other artists and industry stakeholders could follow the great example of Dr. Nkeng and Mr. Adrenalyne, the music industry would be bigger and better than what we have today.
Like the English man would say “Together we stand, divided we fall”. If the first part of this slogan can be practiced, Cameroon music and her new generation artists would be celebrated across the globe.
When I look at the music industry today, I see potentials, progress but little love and collaboration.
There is this deep-rooted hatred and negative competition between artists and other stakeholders in other departments of the industry. Everybody wants to be hailed as the best or the only one making waves and being heard in and out of the country.
Nobody wants to share the spotlight with the other for fear of being surpassed. This is especially is prevalent in the English speaking part of the country. I am not saying all Anglophone artists are like this, but most.
There are so many shortcomings which I cannot name here. One great example I wish to share is the unity and energy between two of Cameroon’s best music video directors: Dr Nkeng Stephens and Mr Adrenalyne.
These two have proofed time and time again that two individuals doing the same thing can work together for the growth of the same thing (this case the music industry)
