CCC sets new objectives to meet cultural demands

Mr. Hans Mbong Director of Cameroon Cultural Center Mr. Hans Mbong Director of Cameroon Cultural Center

In its mission to revamp and promote the Cameroonian Culture, the management team of the Cameroon Cultural Center (CCC) invited the general public and cultural actors such as artists, patrons, sponsors and others to a long series of dialogue and exchange to find out what could push the Cameroonian public to rush massively to the CCC and consume Cameroonian art.

This seminar was on Thursday, October 15, 2015.

After a long heated exchange the Director of the center Mr. Hans Mbong and his team were able to touch the huge expectations, concerns and especially the high requirement of the Cameroonian public who are very hard to please.

He took note of some suggestions and was open to positive critics by the young team who intends to fight, without rest, to give back to the Cameroonian art. This will be through the positioning of merits and putting an end “to the no collaborative altitude of Cameroonian public towards art works.”

After the transformation and new face-lift of the Cameroon Cultural Centre recently, management can now boost of:

– 19 concerts

– 38 projections

– Performance of over 90 artistes

– More than 7,000 visitors etc

Despite these results the overall objectives are far from satisfactory based on the missions of CCC of promoting the Cameroonian culture, encourage the consumption of Cameroonian art, among others.

With a renovated theater, a projection room at SIT ABELA at the Ministry of communication, a coffee shop which is comparatively the same as in the common market and many other benefits but unfortunately, the public is not always on the rendezvous.

And if talent, energy, youthful spirit and openness are the keywords of this young team, it’s now up to the general public to be more receptive and active. It will thus be for the cultural actors to bring in their expertise and projects to the center and at the same time change the face of the cultural center and the Cameroonian culture as an entity.
