Calixthe Beyala, Novelist, Friday, received the public prize for a literary distinction, Algue d’Or 2014 on August 22 at St-Malo.
The award is also referred to as the prize for the best French book. The jury, made up of professionals, first chose 35 major works, then, after a first vote, 14 books were selected.
Later, after a second vote for the jury prize, which left five books where the big winner of the very good best seller went to "Le Christ selon l’Afrique" by Calixthe Beyala.
This novel is also poised to beat the 100,000 copies sold, a rare feat in pure literature.
