I am from South Cameroon - Soukous Makoul

We recognize him by his imposing stature and his demeanor especially when he performs. Soukous Makoul’s work was rewarded at the 10th edition of the Canal d’or for his beautiful contribution to culture. Soukous Makoul shared with us his sentiments after the awards.

Q: What are your impressions after the Canal d’or relating to the fact that you have adopted Cameroon after working here for a long time?

A: Too many emotions, too much happiness. This award authenticates to me that Cameroon is my adopted land. It is by dint of perseverance that I end up with this award today. I’ve got too many emotions.

Q: You sing in Douala, Ewondo, just to mention a few. Where did you learn all these languages?

A: In Cameroon, for love of the profession and my decision to live here. I’m also married to a Cameroonian.

Q: Which part of Cameroon do you come from?

A: I'm from Southern Cameroon.
