Music does not prevent me from modeling and acting - Faty Lou

Faty Lou, a beautiful fruit of a mixture of Mauritania and Cameroon, has beyond doubts, led her to cinema and in fashion, she knows also how to assert her vocal charm.

"It is true that I am from a union between Mauritania and Cameroon because my mom is original Bamum (Western region), and my Daddy is the expatriate but I should mention that I was born here and I grew up here. Otherwise, my real name is Fatimatou Leuwap", she said.

"Bah is going to say that it is since childhood that the seed of music was born in me; I liked interpret French varieties with girlfriends: Michelle TORR, Françoise HARDY, Roch VOISINE, Céline Dion... At the time I was at the Lycée de Koutaba.

"I always sang; since the days of high school, I've never really stopped.

"But what really motivated to make this choice, is the fact of having listened to several times the zouk singer Kennedy.

"He sang so much with passion and conveyed by emotion at this point that I have been convinced to share with the world what I have to give musically, instead of keeping it prisoner in me forever. In short, I was also a bit fed up of being spectator of all that is happening around me. So I decided to release my album.

"I prepared two good years. And quite a number of persons held my hand.

"I started at Ndedi Eyango, then the studio of Makassi but the program out there was overloaded, there was not enough time for me.

"One fine day I fell on Guy Manu whom I appreciate his music - in passing-, so I approached for his helping hand. It was he who advised me to see Francis Mbé, and it is at his home that we finished the album Essayez-moi.

"The album Essayez-moi consists of 7 tracks, a mixture of African rhythms and afrobeat. It is a sort of autobiography and a mirror on our daily lives" she concluded.
