Photography festival kicks off in Yaounde

The festival in memory of Martin Oba Nayatte opened in Yaounde on June 13, 2016.

The sixth edition of the photography festival called Invitations Martin Oba Nyatte kicked off in Yaounde on Monday, June 13, 2016. The theme for this year is “Photography and audiovisual in the digital economy”.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the organiser of the festival, Mballa Mballa Dieudonée Timothé said the festival is timely as it will give professionals a chance to prove their worth.

The objective of the festival is to initiate young children in audiovisual techniques to initiate them in audiovisual and cinema. It is also an opportunity for professionals in the photography and the audiovisual sector to meet and discuss pertinent issues concerning the sector.

For six days the participants will discuss on different topics in the photography and audiovisual sector. It is also an opportunity for students and researchers to deepen their knowledge in the sector. There will also be photo exhibitions by professionals.

This year, the main exhibitor is “Photo Jeunesse” a veteran photographer, M. Nwadike a Nigerian who has been in Cameroon for long and has opened several photo studious in the country.

The main activity today will be an ecumenical service in memory of the late emeritus photographer, Martin Oba Nyatte.
