Sawa ancestors advocate patriotism at Ngondo 2014

The 2014 edition of the Cultural Festival of the Sawa people, the Ngondo ended this Sunday, December 7, 2014 on the banks of the Wouri with racing canoes, the final of the wrestling and immersing the sacred vessel. The message backing the event at the Wouri is "hope through the patriotism of all."

The ceremony was held at the usual venue (the old Elf Base, near the factory of Nigerian Dangote) in a small space. But officials of the cultural organization reassures that the new Ngondo site, located opposite the present site will be ready by June 2015. "This is actually the last time we meet on this site for our Ngondo events," reassured the secretary general of the organization.

Edimo Belle, Belle Belle in the Canton Bonabéri won the competition of traditional wrestling, while Miss Ngondo 2014 went to the Akwa Canton. The canoe race, however, did not disclose a winner, three riders capsized during the competition.

The ceremony this year 2014 was marked by the presence of traditional leaders from Benin and Gabon. Among those who took part in the closing ceremony, Alim Hayatou, Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Ama Tutu Muna representative, supervising Minister.

The theme this year was "Dipita" which means "Hope". A theme that has succeeded "Jalatane Mbale o" (2013) and Musango "2011 and 2012).
