The Cravat comeback

Most things are better appreciated when we know their history. The things we love, Music, Art, Sports, Science and a lot of other things and Fashion especially, with its richness in history, isn’t left out either.

Anyway I’d like us to go a little back in time today, well maybe not exactly a little, 16th century kinda little but the Cravat is the bone of contention.

The Cravat, until recent times was used after the 17th century solely for drama or stereotypical images of an old fashioned person but with rising interest in men’s fashion accessories, it has made a major comeback right back to the game.

What I personally love about the cravat is its uniqueness, that touch of individuality and the appreciation of detail it offers, definitely not your everyday fashion! The modern tailored necktie, the bowtie and all of those originated from this piece. It’s more or less a neck cloth, its invention not solely for fashion but its significance in fashion, priceless.

Using a cravat with a waistcoat, a sweater (v-neck preferably) and a blazer, or with a three piece suit is far better than with just a shirt.

So if you want to look dapper, yet different, a cravat is one way to make that happen.
