In February 2004 whiles in Harvard, a young gentleman partnered with his college roommates to launch what is today arguably the widest social media platform on the globe. Mark Zuckerberg and his college roommates; Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes have identified themselves as pioneers of the over a decade old social media platform that is currently worth over $200 billion.
In 1984, Michael dell launched his own company from the comfort of his college room, selling IBM Computers. In a space of about eight (8) years, dell was listed as the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
The list of individuals who started their businesses whiles in college would be endless if you are to consider the story of Harvard dropout Bill Gates (Microsoft), Frederick Smith (FedEx) and Bo Peaboady (Tripod.com), Samuel Agyeman-Prempeh (INVENTS).
As an entrepreneur my critical observation has been that education at the tertiary level provides an ambiance for business start up. There is dominant school of thought that seems to identify incongruence with the education obtained at the tertiary level with their career ambitions. Other proponents allude to the idea that tertiary education provides the primary colours for a melange of other colours.
My message here however is from the observations I have made and from the testimony of which I personally bear, that a good place to start your business is whiles you are in school.
Permit me to suggest to you to court entrepreneurship. Identify practical ways of providing solutions to the various challenges in your dormitory, hall, campus and community at large.
