The warrant for Ahidjo’s arrest

Recently, someone posted on the camnet discussion forum, a copy of the arrest warrant that a military tribunal issued for the capture and return of Cameroon`s first President, Ahmadou Ahidjo. I responded that that warrant was a sad period in the history of Cameroon.

Today, on the same discussion forum, Jonathan Awason wrote to me: “Is your brother still the DO or has been promoted to SDO? Just curious. But you guys embraced Biya who is responsible for that shame. Is he not the one who issued the warrant of arrest? When i become President i will bring about healing and reconciliation amongst cameroonians. Muslims just want to revenge and only an anglophone will move the country pass the dark past It is about time you start campaigning for me.”

My reply to Awasom is: “Which brother of mine are you referring to? Concerning the arrest warrant, we all have a share of the blame, even you. If as you say it was Biya who issued it, what did the rest of us do about it and the overall shabby treatment given to Ahidjo?

A wrong remains a wrong and history cannot be rewritten. You want to be President of Cameroon, but you live in America, probably work in America, pay taxes to America and in so doing you bolster the economy of America, not Cameroon”.
