Korea To Construct Garoua Referral Hospital

"Today is a very happy day because our delegation together with the government of Cameroon signed a very important document called 'Minutes of discussion' regarding the establishment of the Garoua Referral Hospital."

The Ambassador of Korea to Cameroon, June Hyuck Cho made the declaration in Yaounde yesterday, May 7, 2013 after leading a delegation of the Export/Import Bank of Korea (EXIM) Bank to the Star Building for an audience with Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang.

The Ambassador told reporters that the construction of the Garoua Referral Hospital will be their second medical project in Cameroon, coming after the Yaounde Medical Emergency Centre whose construction is almost complete at the Yaounde Central Hospital. "Now we are starting a bigger project in the North and we understand there is great need for medical services in this area. We are happy to provide the services to the Cameroonian people," the Korean diplomat said.

Besides projects in the medical field, the Korean government is currently constructing three Vocational Training Centres in Limbe, Douala and Sangmelima. Ambassador June Hyuck Cho revealed that his government was embarking on the establishment of another Vocational Training Centre in Yaounde to train teachers because the students need good teachers. He expressed delight with the support and cooperation from the Cameroon government, stating that, "We are very much satisfied with the process."
