The Deputy Secretary General of the Central Committee led a delegation to Buea.
Supporters of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM, party in the South West Region, have been urged to redouble efforts and ensure that the party gets a swooping victory in the twin legislative and municipal elections on 30 September.
Speaking yesterday 25 September during a CPDM evaluation campaigns meeting in that region, Hamajouda Ajoudji, Assistant Secretary-General of the CPDM Central Committee, who led a delegation, reminded supporters that the Head of State needs a comfortable majority in the National Assembly in order to accomplish his "Greater Accomplishment" programme.
The President of the South West regional campaign commission, Senator Peter Mafany Musonge, appreciated campaign teams for their determination and commitment in spite of enormous difficulties. Mafany Musonge highlighted some shortcomings of the CPDM campaign amongst which are the unforgiving and non reconciliatory spirit of some supporters who are still bearing grudges on the issues of investitures and lack of party discipline for those who are carrying out individual campaigns to become Mayors.
He condemned such tendencies stating that the CPDM list has to win first before the party decides who becomes Mayor. He however hopes that the CPDM will rewrite history by consolidating the 29 out of 31 councils and 14/15 parliamentary seats won in 2007.
Reports from all the six divisional campaign teams said the CPDM is already counting four parliamentary seats to its credit (2 from Fako East, Fako West and Kupe Muanengube II in Nguti) where the party is running unopposed. Meanwhile, the party is also priding itself with eight out of the 31 Councils in the region because they are running unopposed.
