CPDM fails to meet target sale of party cards

The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, party in a bid to identify its true militants and also raise funds for party activities, last Nov/Dec., engaged in a nationwide sale of party and contribution cards.

The time frame is, however, said to have fallen short of the desired results as the expected number of identified militants and money raised from the exercise hasn’t been met. This either because sensitization of militants was not intensive or simply because militants were not enthusiastic to buy cards.

The fact that the cost of party cards increased from 200F to 500F and the fact that militants had to pay membership from 2012 up till present, meant that each militant would have spent at least 4000F. Organizers had also imposed this as the only eligibility procedure for one to vote or be voted into an elective position in the party.

Following a communique signed by the scribe of the party Jean Kuete on the January 5 the deadline for the sale of the cards has now been extended to Jan. 31 2015.

Presently, central committee delegates are still on the field sensitizing militants on the innovations going on within the party. This exercise is taking place at a moment when there is much expected reorganization of the basic structures of the CPDM.

Anyone wanting to be elected into party positions would first have to present all such necessary documentation of illegibility to validate his or her candidature.
