Cameroon Red Cross honours CPDM kingpins

Some high profile militants of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM,were, Tuesday November 25, 2014, projected into the honour roll of Cameroonians, who have provided financial and moral support to promote humanitarian actions of the Cameroon Red Cross, CRC, in their communities.

The list,comprising of CPDM Mayors, Senators, Government Delegates and other highly placed militants in state parastatals was made public in Kumba, during the opening ceremony of the 25th General Assembly of the Cameroon Red Cross, chaired by its national President, William TekiMboumoua.

In the first category tagged “Humanitarian Merit Certificate”, theManagement Committee of the CRC, on the recommendation of its national President, recognised CPDM's Central Committee member cum Senator Nfon V E Mukete and the Government Delegate to the KumbaCity Council Victor NkelleNgoh.

The second group of awardees codenamed 'Honorary Member Certificate” had as laureates William Eteki, Ibrahim Talba Malla the SONARA GM, Frankline Njie, CDC GM and Mayors Patrick Ekema Esunge, William Ekong, George Musima Lobe and Micheal Nkeng of Buea, Mbonge, Konye and Muyuka Councils respectively.

The SDO for Meme, David KoulboutAman, GodfreyMbeMukete of the Mukete Estates, Timothy Ndiba and Thomas Nillongwere the other names that were included in the list that were not CPDM militants.

Commenting after the award, Buea Council Mayor, Patrick Ekemasaid the award signify a way of closing the gap between the rich and the poor in society, through humanitarian work. Ekema stated that, the recognition would act as a boaster to other persons in place of authority to take interest in humanitarian works.

Helpless Members Castigate Installation Before now, some members of the Meme Divisional Bureau of the humanitarian group expressed dissatisfaction that, the National Bureau was endorsing an interim Committee Bureau, headed by Honourable Able Mukete into Office.

The members who failed to identify themselves said, the Mukete- led team came to office during a crisis situation with a mandate that was expected to last six months, after which, elections were to be conducted before an official installation ceremony is organised.

Addressing Delegates, the Meme Divisional President of the CRC, Hon Abel Muketesaid since 2011, the Committee has been active on the field in MemeDivision, with 5 Local Committees and other Sub Committees.

Mukete disclosed that, the humanitarian group was thriving thanks to support from the Mayors of Buea, Muyuka, Mbonge and konyeall awardees in the lists of those honoured.

He appealed to the national President and other supporting partners on the need for a befitting office for the Red Cross in Kumba that would serve the populations of Ndian, Kupemuanenguba, and Lebialem Divisions of the Southwest Region.

The Government Delegate to the Kumba City Council, Victor Nkelle Ngoh, stated that, the emblem of the Red Cross symbolises hope and relief, given that, an ever increasing number of people benefit daily from its humanitarian gesture. The humanitarian action group has some 15000 volunteers among the 45000 spread across the national territory.
