Njoh Litumbe’s absence frustrates SCNC Kumba General Assembly

The absence of Mola Njoh Litumbe, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Alliance, LDA, and frontline Coordinator of the Southern Cameroon National Council, SCNC, has been advanced as the main cause of the abortive General Assembly meeting of the independence movement that was billed for Kumba, on December 16.

According to an SCNC sympathiser who spoke to The Post on conditions of anonymity, the Kumba conclave suffered a last minute postponement when the organisers discovered that Mola Njoh was absent.

The Chattered Accountant cum activist is said to have travelled to the West and is yet to return.

Litumbe, according to inside sources, remains a veritable mobiliser and a vocal advocate for the Southern Cameroon's cause, reason why his presence was so crucial.

Our source maintained that Njoh Litumbe’s presence, alongside other top supporters of the movement in the General Assembly meeting, remains critical, given the scramble for the Chairmanship of the group ever since National Chairman, Chief Ayamba Ette Otun, died.

The Post gathered that a new date, which must not exceed the end of December 2014, is yet to be fixed for the meeting.

Before now, there has been an atmosphere of anxiety among Kumba City dwellers with respect to the SCNC meeting.

Within the ranks of the movement itself, The Post gathered that three secret meetings were held by sympathisers of the movement in Kumba, particularly in the Fiango neighbourhood, but all the meetings ended in deadlock.

The disagreements, The Post gathered, are rife due to the recent emergence of various factions of the separatist group, with different political motives, from what obtained a few decades back.

The Post also learnt that security operatives had been instructed to be on the alert for any such gathering in town, reason why security controls at entry points into Kumba have been reinforced.

Two weeks ago, a man surfaced in tattered clothes with an SCNC placard that put the police in Kumba on alert as they searched for his whereabouts to no avail.

It later emerged that the said man was the Administrative Secretary of the SCNC, Mathias Arrey Bisong. He is reported to be one of the proponents and mobilisers for the Kumba event and the main signatory to the invitation cards purportedly dished out to high profile personalities of English expression.
