The People's Action Party, PAP of Hon. Ayah Paul Abine is busy holding meetings and contacting the party candidates and the population while waiting for Elections Cameroon, ELECAM to publish the lists of candidates to run for the September 30, 2013 legislative and municipal elections.
Hon. Ayah Paul, PAP's President in a telephone discussion told Cameroon Tribune on July 29, 2013 that the party will hold a bigger meeting on Saturday, August 3, 2013, certainly after the publication of the list of candidates to run for the twin elections. The party aspires to run for legislative election in Manyu, Lebialem, Buea Urban and Meme West constituencies. For municipal election, PAP submitted nomination papers to run in Akwaya, Menji, Alou and Bangem Councils.
The People's Action Party, its President said, has filed petitions to the Supreme Court acting as the Constitutional Council and the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court. The petitions to the Constitutional Council pray on the institution to cancel the lists of candidates whose submission did not respect the deadline of July 17, 2013 by mid night. He said all parties aspiring to run for the legislative election had to comply with the law and their candidature nomination papers had to be received and registered at ELECAM Divisional Branch Officers or the General Directorate of Elections at the institution's headquarters latest midnight on July 17.
The petitions filed at the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court, concern nomination papers of candidatures for municipal election with similar motives of non-compliance with the law governing their submission at ELECAM Council Branch Offices. The party, Ayah Paul said, would want the judiciary to exercise justice.
