SCNC Leadership Crisis: Beware of impostors and opportunists in SCNC

I read with a lot of consternation an interview granted by Mr. Leke Theodore in The Median newspaper No 0117 of 2nd June 2014 who poses as 2nd vice National Chairman of the SCNC and the press release by Mr. Bisong Mathias Arrey published in the same paper on 16/06/2014 and wish to throw more light on these utterances. The SCNC which is the vanguard liberation movement of the over five million Southern Cameroonians has as main objective the restoration of the sovereign statehood of Southern Cameroons.

Unfortunately, greed and egocentric interests by a few misguided individuals is stalling the work of the few devoted activists who have put the Southern Cameroons struggle above individual interests. Curiously enough, Southern Cameroonians are more interested in discussing the leadership crisis than focusing on the ultimate goal and those actually pursuing that goal.

Mr. Leke Theodore recognizes Chief Ayamba as the legitimate chairman of the SCNC and asserts that he is still alive so nobody can take over that position from him. He may be right because Chief Ayamba himself in a response to a petition from Meme county as to how he could chair a meeting of seven activists in Mutengene dismissing his constitutional Vice Chairman in December 2011 retorted that he was appointed by God to lead the SCNC and so was answerable only to God. I must make it very clear here that the SCNC is nobody’s personal estate where leadership has to be dictated by an individual.

Chief Ayamba and the seven who passed a vote of no confidence on Mr. Nfor Ngala Nfor in December 2011 formed a new movement which they christened Frontliners and Devoted Activists and as such excluded themselves from the SCNC. It was in this respect that Mr. Nfor Ngala Nfor continued acting as National Chairman until after several futile attempts to reconcile both men (chief Ayamba turned down all requests for reconciliation) that eleven county chairpersons out of the thirteen counties endorsed the candidature of Mr. Nfor Ngala Nfor as National Chairman on the 11/08/2013.

After all, Mr. Leke Theodore in his interview acknowledged the fact that Mr. Nfor Ngala is the one who had been doing all the work. So how then does Mr. Leke Theodore refer to him as an imposter in the SCNC who has usurped powers?

It could be recalled that sometime in the year 2000, the SCNC held a meeting in the Kumba Town Catholic church hall to elect a chairman to take over from Prince Ndoki Mukete who had resigned on the 4th of January 2000. In that meeting, Mr Leke Theodore moved that the leadership of the SCNC should go to the Northern Zone because all the leaders from Southern Zone from Elad, Fossung, Ndoki (South west) had fallen short of leadership qualities and abandoned the cause. It was then that Mr. Nfor Ngala objected pointing out that that the Northern zone was interested in the restoration of Southern Cameroons` independence and not leadership position. During that meeting, Justice Frederick Ebong though in detention in Yaounde was elected National Chairman and Nfor Ngala Nfor the vice National Chairman who had to be acting as Chairman pending the release of Justice Ebong.

Unfortunately, when justice Ebong and co. were finally released from detention, instead of assuming his leadership position as National Chairman, Ebong preferred to flee for safety abroad. Finally in 2001, Late Dr. Martin Ngeka Luma was elected to fill the vacuum created by Justice Ebong`s self exile.

Mr Leke goes on to say the SCNC had been grounded for 12 years under chief Ayamba and Mr Nfor Ngala but fails to tell us what role he played as 2nd vice national chairman to wake up his bosses from slumber. He goes on further to accuse Ayamba and Nfor Nfor of maintaining silence over Oben Maxwell’s arrest.

It is a well known fact within the SCNC circles that when Oben Maxwell was transferred from Buea to Kondengui the national council dispatched Mr. Simon Fuh Ngwa the secretary for Meme county on a misssion to diplomatic representations in Yaounde with firm instructions to personally meet Oben Maxwell in prison and find out the reason for his arrest and detention.

As per Mr. Ngwa’s report, he met Maxwell Oben in the Kondengui prison on Tuesday, March 18 who handed him some documents which he scanned and published on the internet and the result was instantaneous as several people in the diaspora condemned the arrest and detention but could not go beyond that.

Finally when Maxwell Oben was transferred back to Buea prison on Thursday 20th March 2014 and taken to the military tribunal on Monday March 24 and was given an arbitrary one year jail term with 48 hours to appeal, Mr. Nfor Nfor again dispatched Mr. Simon Fuh Ngwa who got a copy of the charges against Maxwell and took it to Barrister Ajong Stanislaus in Tiko who successfully filed an appeal against the ruling within the 48 hours. How then can Mr. Leke Theodore claim that the

SCNC has done nothing to that effect? Moreover he claims that Maxwell Oben has been an SCNC leader for over 15 years. Maxwell Oben is leader of the Southern Cameroons National Coalition (SCNC) with head office in Yaounde, La Republique du Cameroun which he claims is a human rights NGO and has no direct links with the Southern Cameroons National Council.

What then does Mr. Leke want the SCNC to do in this situation? I suppose many of you reading this article must have read Maxwell`s interviews in this same Newspaper paper in which he outrightly castigated Chief Ayamba and Mr. Nfor Ngala for their poor stewardship of the SCNC. Won`t it have been honourable for Mr. Leke to pay tribute to Mr. Nfor Nfor for his efforts to have Maxwell released from detention despite all the invectives the latter had been lavishing on him?

Any surprise then to say Leke and not Nfor is the impostor in the SCNC who alongside Bisong Mathias Arrey want to use Maxwell`s detention to project themselves as the true leaders of the SCNC? It should be noted that Mr. Bisong Mathias Arrey was very instrumental in misleading Chief Ayamba to fall out with his vice because of his selfish ambition of becoming the leader of the SCNC.

Contrary to the accusations against Mr. Nfor Ngala for stalling progress in the SCNC Mr. Bisong Mathias should be called to order and his excesses brought under control before he completely destroys the SCNC. This is somebody who claims to be the acting Secretary General of the SCNC but is completely ignorant of how the movement operates.

Hardly had he convinced Chief Ayamba to form a new movement christened FRONTLINERS and DEVOTED ACTIVISTS with himself as the pioneer Secretary General than he led some members of this new outfit to pass a vote of no confidence on Chief Ayamba whom they insist is the legitimate chairman of the SCNC.

On the question of the SCNC being in factions Mr. Leke Theodore dishonestly claims that there are no factions except people who purport to be leaders to deceive Mr. Biya and collect money from him.

Suffice it for the public to know that Mr. Leke Theodore and Bisong Mathias Arrey are the real impostors in the SCNC with diabolic intentions. Mr. Leke Theodore should have been honest and courageous enough to tell Southern Cameroonians that he belongs to one of the SCNC factions which struck a deal with Mr. Ahmadou Ali former Minister of Justice in La Republique du Cameroun to destroy the SCNC case in Banjul.

He and Chief Isaac Oben received money from the government with the intention of withdrawing communication 266/2003 from the African Commission on Human and Peoples` rights in Banjul. Their penchant for betrayal and dirty money blinded them to the fact that only a plaintiff can file a motion in court to withdraw a matter, reason why they were humiliated in Banjul and their trip ended along the corridors of the court hall. Evidence of this is a letter dated Friday August 17th 2012 he personally addressed to Mr. Ahmadou Ali reminding him of his failure to comply with the terms of their agreement (see attached letter).

Again in your edition no 0119 of 16/06/2014 Mr. Bisong Mathias Arrey states, " By dint of the powers conferred on me by the interim administration of the SCNC which became functional through a communique of 8th July 2013 jointly signed by James sabum and Bisong mathias Arrey,National Organizing Secretary and acting Secretary General respectively" Is Mr. Arrey out to tell Southern Cameroonians that a piece of paper signed by the two of them now supersedes the National Council which is the supreme organ of the SCNC?

As if these two miscreants have not done enough damage to the SCNC, Bisong Mathias Arrey goes on to notify international organizations of their diabolic plans to press on Chief Ayamba to resign and disclaiming Mr. Nfor Nfor as National Chairman of the SCNC.

I will like these two riff raffs to tell Southern Cameroonians where the struggle would have been at this stage without Mr. Nfor Nfor`s determination and commitment. Mr. Bisong Mathias Arrey is so drunk with power that he arrogates to himself titles without knowing their implications.UNPO is an abbreviation for Unrepresented Nations and Peoples` Organization with observer status at the UN.

How then can an individual become a member of such an organization? Messrs. Leke Theodore and Bisong Mathias should understand that leadership of the SCNC is not about drinking palm wine and afofo in the quarters in Mutengene but for level headed well informed gentlemen committed to research and hard work for positive development. Fellow Southern Cameroonians, I call on you all to be vigilant and not allow overzealous underachievers to derail you from the ordained mission of the SCNC which is the restoration of the SOVEREIGN STATEHOOD of Southern Cameroons.

Yours comrade in the struggle, Mosongo Zacherie Mesodi, Acting Secretary General Nota Bene: At the time of sending this mail, I got word of the passing to eternity of Chief Ayamba.
