SDF Vows to Retake Buea Council

SDF militants made the pledge during a campaign rally in Small Soppo on on September 24, 2013.

How to transform Buea in terms of development projects, weed out corruption, enhance youth employment and fight against moral decadence and criminality; were the cardinal highlights of speeches made by some local SDF bigwigs who took to the rostrum during the rally.

The main speaker, Ekeke Njuma Moses, SDF Substantive Legislative Candidate for Buea Urban, vowed that his party will retake the Buea Council which, he said, "for 12 years has not witnessed any great development projects under the CPDM stewardship." He said Council authorities were exploiting traders with taxes in markets such as the Muea and Small Soppo markets while "these markets have no toilets and traders are not protected from rain, mud and dust."

He promised that if voted to Parliament, he will defend the laws of the land, be God-fearing and ensure a proper use of the state budget. Ekeke Njuma Moses regretted that water has been tapped from the catchment in Small Soppo "but nothing has been done to compensate the people of Small Soppo."

Other speakers like Mrs. Etia Sikoty Marie Epse Efange (SDF Alternate Legislative Candidate for Buea Urban) and Mbeleke Julius Ndembo noted that the power of the SDF lies in the ballot box. They called on militants to guard against vote rigging and manipulation from their opponents on September 30, 2013.
