The managing team of the Union of the peoples of Cameroon UPC has organized a press conference in Douala.
The conference was organized to update the public on UPC‘s stance on the latest happenings in Cameroon and within the central African region.
On the occasion, the Secretary General of the party, Albert Moutoudou stated that the annual conference of the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon (UPC) will be held in Douala on 14, 15 and 16 August 2014.
He said the theme for reflection of the conference shall be "a strong party for a strong social movement."
During the press conference, the Chairman of the party, Alexis Ndema Samè criticized government for increasing the price of fuel.
He said the new price is unacceptable. He called on different associations to come together and protest the decision.
The UPC party also lambasted the Economic Partnership Agreement between Cameroon and the European Union in very strong terms.
Discussing Boko Haram and the political crisis in Central Africa, UPC beliefs the present instability is due to the inability of the ruling class to fight poverty and enhance democracy.
The party called upon competent authorities to empower security forces so they can adequately fight insecurity and uphold the rights of peoples.
