ASAC celebrates 40 years

Activities marking the 40 anniversary of ASAC (the regulatory body of insurance and Reassurance Corporations in Cameroon) are in high gear in the nation and in Douala, in particular.

At the launching ceremony at ASAC’S head office at Immeuble SOCAR last Wednesday October 8 after a brief introduction by the communication officer, the President, Raphael FUTE, among his close collaborators, invited pressmen and the representatives of victims of HIV and accidents, who later were given consolatory goodwill envelopes, said that the message behind these events marking their 40 th anniversary, is to assure the entire public irrespective of their social classes, that ASAC is ensuring that insurance businesses in Cameroon should reinforce the principles of proximity relations by way of creating very modest policies that will drastically reduce the weight of the public’s burdens in life and especially the unknown.

He further intimated that the insurance business in Cameroon is determined to be everyone’s partner in times of dire needs.

After a brief introduction of the communication Officer again, the President of the Commission in charge of the 40th anniversary Celestin Tazoukong, said that ASAC chose this moment to show a gesture of solidarity to the orphans, widows and widowers of five families because the accident at Tonga zone was equally a special case.

He employed the representative of the accident victims to see this gesture as one of condolence and to receive the envelopes in good faith.

He also called on those who are assisting HIV victims to receive ASAC’S goodwill gesture as an encouragement and those they hope to do better next time.

Both groups of recipients expressed surprise and were deeply appreciative of ASAC’S gestures. Earlier there was a caravan.

As far back as in September, there had been road safety campaigns for children and motorbike riders.

Meanwhile, from Wednesday October 8 to Saturday October 11, the Tazoukong Commission alongside pressmen paid visits to the Centre de Santé de St. Paul de Nylon and Emilie Saker where donations of treated mosquito nets were handed over.

On Friday October 10 activities centered on the donations of ASAC brand exercise books to public primary schools at Ndogpassi, Bepanda with an enrolment of 5000 pupils, at Bonaberi where a primary of 65 years is located and at Grand Hangar to a bilingual primary of 800 pupils.

Results of Saturday Football session were as follows: Directors-General of Insurance Companies Vs the Association of Journalist ended 1-1 at full time. Results of penalty shootout were not registered by informer. Finals of ASAC CUP were played by Zenithe Vs GMC 1-0.

Zenithe took home the trophy. In the ASAC Champions cup 2014 AGC was awarded the trophy.
