Flood Flood

A date that would be remembered by inhabitants of Garri Quarter, Baba I in Babessi as the darkest day is September 14, 2015.

This is so because the devastating flood rendered some households homeless. About 100 persons were affected by the flood which damaged 35 houses.

In an interview with the Fon of Baba I, HRH Fon Fuekemshi II of Baba, confirmed that over 35 houses have been affected.

HRH Fon Fuekemshi also added that, the SDO for Ngoketunjia visited the affected areas and a Commission is expected soon to assess the damages caused by the flood.

The population is pointing accusing fingers at SATOM, the road construction company for poor drainage he said.

As a reminder, on September 9, 2012, Babessi village recorded a flood that destroyed some 50 houses and rendered 26 families homeless.

Tongues are still waging over the whereabout of the money government handed to Ngoketunja SDO Kuela Valery as support to victims.

According to Eye newspaper some part of the money was to be used to resettle the affected population with the creation of a new layout, yet the process is too slow.
