Authorities unite to assess the real potential of Minta

The first General Meeting of the municipality of Minta in Haute-Sanaga will be held from 8 to 13 December 2014.

The event, under the patronage of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and decentralization, focuses on the theme: 'elected municipal officials, people and partners together in the transfer of the mechanisms of development for the benefit of all.'

The General Meeting of the municipality of Minta (EGECOM Minta 2014) are according to the organizers, a trade framework that will permit the passage of a decentralized stage of total dependency to autonomy, and encourage people to take in the facts, the concepts of decentralization and participatory development.

The meeting in Minta which will be attended by the elites, internal and external partners to local development, academics and other actors of the rural world of the locality, is defined as a framework within which each Member of the community or the local community will bring concrete proposals for a better management of all resources which, for the Mayor of Minta Mout Abalang, is a pledge of effective integration and collective social development.

The objectives of the EGECOM Minta 2014 were presented yesterday during a press conference at La Falaise hotel cliff in Yaoundé. For six days, it will be to assess the real potential of the community of Minta on the human and social, economic, tourist and cultural plan. Participants in the workshop will also outline ways of funding, strengthening the links between municipal and administered administrators. According to the Mayor, Mout Abalang, this will enable each social stratum to feel challenged.

Through the partial disengagement of the State in the context of decentralization, the democratic, educational and methodological necessity to bring the elite and the masses to take charge of their city development is needed. "It takes a strong act, a landmark event for each everyone to understand that times have changed, that now we no longer speak of the failure of the mayor or his success but rather the failure or success of the whole community," hammered the Mayor of Minta.

The EGECOM Minta 2014 will be furnished by forums, trade exhibitions and cultural events.

Minta is one of seven districts in the Department of Haute-Sanaga. It is a set of five groups comprising 32 villages, with a population of 24,000.
