Bafia: KOICA alumni offers scholarships to orphans

The association of former beneficiaries of the Korean International Cooperation Agency, KOICA, scholarships will on Saturday, August 8, 2015, in Bafia, Mbam and Inoubou Division in the Centre Region, offer assistance to orphans and vulnerable children.

According to a statement from the KOICA Alumni Association Cameroon, KAAC, signed by Kim Tae Young, the KOICA Resident Representative, the decision to offer the scholarships is aimed at reducing the rate of illiteracy by providing free education to needy children.

KOICA and KAAC expect that the gifts will improve the wellbeing of recipient children and their families, thereby enabling them to study well. With over 300 members in the country, KAAC has since its foundation in 2009 offered similar assistance to an orphanage, health centre and school.

The Korean International Cooperation Agency offers these programmes each year with the aim of supporting the human resource development of partner countries by building the capacity of local leaders.
