CRTV begins construction of pylon in Logbessou

The ground work is already set for the reconstruction of the CRTV transmission pylon in the Logbessou neighbourhood in Douala in the Littoral region.

The 200 meters long pylon will carry CRTV’s transmission antennas that provide Radio and Television signals to the Littoral and South West regions. It will also carry the antenna of other partner media organs that used the previous pylon that collapsed.

The Minister of Communication, board chairman of the CRTV, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, has visited the site where the pylon will be erected. Engineers at the site assured him that solid anchors have been concreted on the ground at calculated distances to stabilise the pylon.

The Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary announced that construction works will be completed in a few weeks and the pylon will be fully operational in two months. At the site in Logbessou in the Douala V council area, all the necessary building materials have already been made available, and the Minister has expressed satisfaction with the pace of the work.

The Chinese company executing the project noted that new 200 meters long pylon with at estimated life span of 50 years will be more robust and resistant compared to the previous that collapsed in 2014. It shall be homogeneous

Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary who was accompanied by the Governor of the Littoral region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, announced the energy deficit will be solve with the acquisition of a 500 Kva transformer. The towns of Bamenda and Garoua will also have two transmitters of 5 kilowatts each.

The minister used the occasion to call on those living beside the pylon to quite as the rays from the transmitters may affect their health.
