Congo Market in Douala to be brought back to life

Construction of Douala's Congo Market has come with many issues. The latest and of greatest concern was a land battle between F. Kamte, who had a piece of land in the area, and the Urban Community of Douala, the guarantor of all lands.

Since last Friday, the new Congo market, or "Congo Mall" witnessed a decisive step. The space will finally break ground to the delight of traders as two financial institutions have decided to support this important project.

These are the Commercial Bank of Cameroon (CBC) and Afriland Fisrt Bank. A tripartite agreement was signed at the Cud between the two banks and the Southwest International Construction Corporation (Sicc), observed by Fritz NTONE NTONE, government delegate to the Cud, notaries, sub-prefects of the districts of Douala 1 Jean-Marie Ekoa Mbarga and 2nd, Garba Bakary. This is an important step, which has just been reached.

According to Brigitte Soppo Ngalle, DG of Sicc, the first block will be available in 2015. The Congo Mall, as presented by the data sheet, is an ambitious project. This will be an ultra-modern equipment dealer, grouped into two blocks, called Gallieni Plaza and Plaza Paraiso. The space will consist of 1,000 shops in 13 furnished buildings, fire resistant thanks to a technology imported from the United States. It is also planned to build on this site administrative offices (conference room, health center, police station, etc.).

This project also includes the construction of boreholes, 120 parking spaces, 200 toilets, 16 garbage cans, fire extinguishers every 50 meters, restaurants, offices for rent and many others.

Total cost of the work, 7000000000 F, funded entirely by the private partner. Note that the old traders will be considered, provided they meet underwriting conditions set by the private partner. Surrender to the State of Cameroon is scheduled in ten years.
