Douala I pledges unconditional support against Boko Haram

The declaration was made during the Council’s session to adopt the 2014 administrative and management accounts.

The war against Boko Haram is a must-win that has left no political party indifferent. The Douala I Council made up of the CPDM, CPP, MP and SDF councillors has addressed a declaration supporting the Head of State’s action against the group and the defence forces’ engagement to eliminate the terrorist sect that has been terrorising the Far North Region.

The declaration, read by a councillor from the opposition party, is telling of the council’s unwavering support to the defence forces and to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

It emerged from the council session to adopt the 2014 administrative and management accounts that 2014 revenue witnessed an increase of about 15 per cent, compared to 2013.

The Secretary General of the Council, Oscar Eone, said the 1.628 billion revenue raised was thanks to increase in the collection of Indirect Council Tax, Additional Council Tax, renting out of council property, among others.

The Mayor of Douala I Council, Jean Jacques Lengue Malapa, said major projects like the completion of the Douala I Council building, rehabilitation of five municipal nursery schools, support to health centres, rehabilitation of earth roads, and fight against urban disorder, among others, were carried out.

Around to grace the council session was the First Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri, who commended the Council for the revenue increase and the fight against urban disorder.
