Many families from five subdivisions in the Wouri Division of Littoral Region have gladly received various commodities worth FCFA 1,650,000 generously contributed by individuals, mostly authorities of the region.
The donation covers the needs expressed by some underprivileged families to the Littoral Regional Delegation for Women’s Empowerment and Family.
Each beneficiary received material worth between FCFA 50,000 and FCFA 100,000. The donation included rice, salt, gas cylinders, mineral water, soap, Maggi seasoning cubes, among many other things, to be used in generating income.
They were instructed not to consume them, but to sell in order to make profit to meet expressed needs such as medical care, education and lodging, just to name a few.
The assistance, according to the Littoral Regional Delegate for Women’s Empowerment and Family, Isabelle Lafortune Mounah Dipita Makota, was part of activities marking the World Family Day commemorated last May 15, 2016.
Governor Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, who chaired the handover ceremony and personally donated FCFA 200,000, commended the initiative and encouraged the Regional Delegation for Women’s Empowerment and Family, to set up a taskforce to follow up the effectiveness of the income-generating activities.
