Circulation of people and goods has been obstructed in Sangai village of the Kadey subdivision, some five kilometres from Batouri in the East Region after the overflow of River Kadey.
The river overflowed its banks due to recent torrential rains in the area. Trucks en route to Congo and Central African Republic have been grounded for days due to the large amount of water on the road.
The Senior Divisional Officer of Kadey, Halpha Emmanuel visited the flood site and encouraged the people of measures being put in place to solve the problems. In the meantime, people are obliged to either trek across long distances with loads on their heads or use canoes to sail across the water.
