Farmers in Mefou and Afamba receive agricultural equipment

The Union of companies and agricultural cooperatives of Mefou and Afamba held its second General Assembly Tuesday at Mfou.

Invited was the Minister delegate to the Minister of Agriculture and rural development, Clémentine Ananga Messina who came full with provisions: a tractor, a 4WD vehicle, farm inputs (15 tonnes of improved seeds of maize, thousands of cuttings and improved cassava, plantains and cacao plants) as well as material consisting inter alia of carrier fungicides, all amounting to $ 150 million F.

This was a significant gift, indicative of the commitment of the Minister Clémentine Ananga Messina to lead the peasants of the Mefou and Afamba into a modern production.

"The determination of our countries is towards 2nd generation agriculture which joins with the transformation to mass production and development markets", she said.

Administrative and parliamentary authorities, agricultural elites present, all welcomed this gesture.

Agriculture occupies a key place in Mefou and Afamba. To date, the Department has 24 cooperative corporations which contributed to the implementation of 50 hectares of banana-plantain, 30 hectares of fields cassava seed, more than 200 hecters of maize.
