Former Mayor of Konye dies

Elizabeth Eshie Ngoh, one time Mayor of Konye Council in the Southwest Region, is dead.

Eshie Ngoh was reported dead recently at the Hope Clinic Hospital in Kumba after a protracted illness.

She served as Mayor of Konyefrom2004 to 2007 after taking over from the Chief of Kurume who died barely few years in office as Mayor.

The 62-year-old former Mayor was one of the die-hard militants of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, in the Meme III Section of the party, Konye Subdivision.

Before her demise, Eshie was a Councillor of the CPDM–run Konye Council and Secretary of the Finance Committee under the current mandate. She was equally the President of the women’s wing of the CPDM in the Meme III Section.

Speaking at a session grouping Councillors of the Konye municipality, the current Mayor, George Musima Lobe, said the absence of Eshie Ngoh is a great loss to the Konye municipality and the Councillors in particular.

The funeral programme is yet to be made public by the family of the deceased. But The Post learnt that it may take some time before such announcements are made depending on her children, most of who are out of the country. Eshie Ngoh was born on August 5, 1953.
