Drimp Foundation, a non-governmental, non political and non denominational organization recently organized a mega forum at Bamenda Congress hall which was the first of its kind.
The forum which was aimed at enabling talents expresses themselves in the various disciplines, brought together youths from all works of life. It was organized under the theme: “Entrepreneurship and purpose discovery” Drimp Foundation in partnership with Turkish Airlines for the first time in Bamenda has as main goal to help young Cameroonians discover the talent in them.
According to the founder of Drimp Foundation, Roger Forgwe, there are talents everywhere in Cameroon wasting in their little corners with nobody to make their dreams come true. Through Drimp Foundation, young talents are given the opportunity to express themselves through singing, dancing, drama and modeling displayed during the forum. Today many that passed through Drimp foundation have secured good contracts in and out of the country and are making it good from their God given talents.
Talking to Eden after a performance, one of the participants, Ms Takou said her talent of singing has unfolded and greatly evolved, thanks to Drimp Foundation. “I saw the glory of the programme the first day I attended it” she said while encouraging all youth nationwide to endeavour to attend the programme. She termed the youth forum “you can do it programme”.
Drimp Foundation has a model committee which trains models. Its goal is for these models to represent the nation during fashion contests out of the country. Young people have been accused of indecent dressing with the administration putting a fine of up to FCFA 50,000 for anyone caught. This programme seeks to teach young people through a fashion parade on how they could dress properly in public.
Roger Forgwe, in his message to the youth, emphasized that “Entrepreneurship is not all about opening and managing a business but being innovative in what you do. Adding value to something and setting the pace for something new are key characteristics of an entrepreneur”. According to him, Africa as a whole is suffering from leadership deficiency meaning many are dominant talents which are untapped for lack of a mentor to give directions.
This foundation is out to fill that gap by coaching and sharing ideas experiences to all Cameroonian youth whom. He says are hungry for direction. He also revealed the Eden that in an interview that for the organization of this youth forum to have succeeded, it is thanks to funding by the founders and promoters, the Turkish Airlines and support from youth who have benefitted from the organisation.
