Four perish in car crash at Nkeng-Likok

Four people died and two sustained serious injuries in a car accident that occurred at Nkeng-Likok on the Yaounde-Boumnyebel highway on Saturday January 3, 2015.

Eyewitness reports say a 57-seater bus with the number plate CE 605 FD belonging to the transport agency, Butrans Voyages, collided with a Toyota Avensis (CE 852 GH) at about 2:00 p.m. due to over speeding and wrong overtaking.

The bus driver, Ngong Mbongono Denis, said he left Yaounde and was heading for Douala while two other vehicles; a bus belonging to Marathon Express and the Toyota Avensis were coming from the opposite direction.

The driver of the Toyota Avensis in an attempt to overtake the Marathon Express bus, collided with the oncoming Butrans Voyages bus.

Four of the passengers died on the spot and the two wounded were immediately rushed to hospital. The bodies were said to have been identified by the families and taken to the mortuary of the Yaounde Military Hospital.
