Lebialem transport delegate cautions stakeholders against insecurity

The Divisional Delegate of Transport for Lebialem, Mathias Njulefac during his sensitisation meeting with stakeholder of the sector recently advised them to be cautious and alert on the type of people they transport.

He said the purpose of the meeting was to educate transport stakeholders in the Division on their importance in the fight against insecurity and terrorism in the country.

Njulefac told the stakeholders that the best they can do is to; first of all, make sure that they acquire their proper documents which permit them to ply the road.

He further told them to always make sure that they follow the rules and regulations which govern the transport sector in Cameroon and to make sure they always interview passengers to know their mission or what they are transporting.

The Divisional Delegate later told The Post that, the annual conference is to make sure that the Associations of Commercial Motor bikeriders as well as Drivers Union acts as vectors in the fight against insecurity in the Division.

He explained that the main message the delegation of transport for Lebialem is trying to send out is to educate commercial motorbike riders and drivers unions in the Division to act against insecurity or terrorism in the country.

According to him, terrorists enter every country by road, air, water and land. He said his delegation has resolved that, from now henceforth, transporters and drivers should make sure that passengers and their luggage are checked thoroughly before taking them on board.

Pius Asongafac, President of Alou Commercial Bike Riders Union thanked the Delegate for such an initiative. He said if all the other Divisional Delegates copy his example, then, insecurity and terrorism will never have a place in Cameroon.

Michael Atabong, President of Menji Commercial Bike Riders Union said he has learnt a lot which he will share with his colleagues during their next meeting.

The special representative of the Lebialem Syndicate, Mbe Taku, said he will get his sector to join hands with the Divisional Delegate, the SDO and the Head of State to make sure that terrorism in Cameroon is history.

He urged all those involved in the sector in Lebialem to be alert and to report any suspected cases of insecurity to the forces of law and order.
