Limbe City Council holds ordinary session

Authorities of the Limbe City Council have been exhorted to fully exploit all potential sources of revenue in order to improve on the living conditions of the population.

The call was made on July 11, 2014 by the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) of Fako, Mr. Zang III during the ordinary session of the Council dedicated to the examination and adoption of the 2013 Administrative, Management and Stores Accounts.

Even though the Fako boss hailed the City Council management for a positive balance sheet, he however remarked that more than 91 percent of their revenue came from government structures.

Thus, he called for more stringent measures for revenue collection especially with building permits. While urging the Government Delegate and his team not to sleep on its laurels, Zang III enjoined the Council executive to spare no efforts in tackling floods in Limbe, construct modern markets, intensify hygiene and sanitation and fight against clandestine transportation amongst others.

Earlier, the Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council, Motanga Andrew Monjimba, indicated that the Council recorded a 101 percent revenue collection rate.

From FCFA 5.5 Billion budgeted, the Council effectively recovered the sum of FCFA of 5, 589, 791, 068 giving a rate of 101 percent. In addition to that, FCFA 6.8 million from decentralized from the Ministry of Women Empowerment and the Family also came in.

Mr. Motanga explained that the City Council actually spent FCFA 5,345,673,883 on road maintenance, youth employment, street lights, water and electricity amongst others representing 97 percent of the budget while FCFA 2, 638,747 was carried forward in 2014.
