The Cameroonian born NBA star Luc Mbah à Moute who is on vacation in his home country Cameroon made a stop upon arrival, at the Catholic University Institute of Buea where he shared his experiences with the CUIB community particularly with the students.

While addressing the students during his visit, Luc called on them to dream, sacrifice, work hard and to remain steadfast in God as they pursue their careers. He further reminded them that wealth without education is meaningless.

According to him lots of young people in Cameroon and Africa stop dreaming. It is on this assertion that the NBA star making references to his life appealed to the students to never stop dreaming and to believe in their dreams as he made it to success despite not being the best basketball player or the smartest kid. He told them to listen to all who advised them, as they work towards attaining their dreams.

Luc, who plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, laid emphasis on God as the number one motivator and designer of things.

"I dreamt, I worked hard and I sacrificed a lot to get to the NBA. I grew up playing different games football, tennis, volleyball, but I believe God moved me to basketball so I could impact the youths in Cameroon" he advised.

Momo Bertrand, President of the Student Government Association in his welcome note, hailed the NBA star for not being a prodigal son but a rich diggers son who is impacting the youths within and out of Cameroon.

The University on its part expressed joy and satisfaction in meeting and having Luc as he was presented with many different gifts. Expressing his appreciation to the University for the impeccable reception and gifts, Luc offered some basketball accessories to the University’s basketball team.

The NBA player, during his 2 day stay in Buea and CUIB in particular, preselected about 40 young basketballers both male and female in the South West Region for the upcoming 2015 Mbah à Moute Basketball Camp to take place in Yaoundé.

It is worth mentioning that the camp is in its 5th edition and has so far projected young Cameroonians into the NBA and other college basketballs in the USA.
