MINMAP commended Mamfe on their progressive 2014 Public Investment Projects. This was echoed by the Regional Delegate Of Public Contracts for the South West, during the 3rd co-ordination meeting held in Mamfe, on July 3.

The South West Regional Delegate of Public Contracts, MINMAP, Shey Ebuwir Tobias, disclosed that the region is on a good footing in the realization of the 2014 Public Investment Projects. Ebuwir Tobias was speaking on 3rd July, in Mamfe during the 3rd co-ordination meeting of the personnel of the regional delegation of public contracts for the south west.

The coordination meeting was aimed to evaluate activities in the public contracts sector, identify errors and difficulties, and seek solutions for a better way forward. But he said for this to be possible all stakeholders must become actors in the field.

The co-ordination meeting which was presided over by the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Manyu, Peter Tieh Nde, brought together the six Divisional Delegates of public contracts, Chief of Brigades, stake holders, contractors and vote holders. The SDO urged the personnel’s of the public contracts, to make sure they follow-up and control especially on-going projects in the field, making sure the public contracts regulations are respected. “No project should be received without making sure there are well executed to the end”, he reiterated.

Peter Tieh Nde, called on the Regional Delegate of Public Contracts to ensure that the South West attains a realization rate of 100% execution of projects by the end of 2014 financial year. He warned that contracting authorities should not go into conflicts with the tender’s board.

The meeting had presentations from the Regional and Divisional Delegates on the level of contracts execution in their respective areas of competence.

A technical paper was also presented on the role of other stakeholders in the public contracts chain. It was followed by discussions, reading and adoption of resolutions and recommendations.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Divisional Delegate of public contracts for Manyu, Mbeng Joseph Tambe, hailed his colleagues for their massive attendance, saying it was a telling indication that the public contracts sector in the South West Region was vibrant and up to its task.

It is worth mentioning that the Public Contracts sector in Cameroon is today the focus of great attention by Government, politicians, development experts and the man on the street. This is because the Government brings about development through the award of contracts.
