Mbonge Council authorities beg Biya for a new division

Municipal authorities of Mbonge in Meme Division, Southwest Region, have expressed the wish for President Biya to upgrade the administrative unit into a full Division comprising of at least four subdivisions.

This was the highpoint of celebrations marking the 44th edition of the National Day recently. According to the municipal authorities, upgrading the Subdivision will bring administration closer to the people.

The Mayor of Mbonge, Daniel Mata Mokambe, said the people of Mbonge will be grateful if the Head of State and National Chairman of the CPDM listens to their plea.

Mokambe noted that though the Subdivision enjoys the privileges of national unity and integration, the vastness of the area needs more attention from hierarchy.

One of the Deputies, John Obase, corroborating the Mayor, said the dream of seeing Mbonge raised to a full Division remains very high.
Obase noted that the peace, unity and integration the people of Mbonge enjoy under the Biya regime could become even better if Mbonge is elevated into a full Division.

To the Deputy Mayor, having over 100 villages under a single Subdivision is too vast. Talking to reporters on the plea, Simon Sombe, Divisional Officer of Mbonge, said the issue is left for hierarchy to decide.

He said the elite and other authorities may be talking from a political standpoint but to him as an administrator, his hierarchy has the sole right to decide.

On the vastness of the Division, the DO disclosed that administering over 250,000 people even without an assistant requires the grace of God.
Sombe explained that the Subdivision is vast enough to produce four Subdivisions.

The DO said he has put in place measures whereby the people are administered without hitches. Revisiting the theme of the National Day celebrations, the DO said it is a matter of general concern for the entire nation to stand up with the Armed Forces in sustaining the peace and unity Cameroon enjoys.

Sombesaid from Mbonge, which shares borders to the sea, security has always remained a prime concern. He stated further that once peace is achieved, the people can talk and act development without any external interference.

He challenged the people of Monge Subdivision to work together towards making development a reality. This, the SDO said, can only be achievable if thespirit of unity of purpose is upheld.

Assessing the conduct of the National Day activities, the DOsaid there were no accidents and cases of disorder. The DO said there was free fuel for the transportation of students and people to their various localities.
