This follows the closing of the dam’s main spill way in Nyabizan in the fourth region last Tuesday 16th August 2016, during a ceremony chaired by the Minister of Water Resources Basil Atangana Kauna.
The closure of the spill way will enable the filling of the reservoir which has for the past five years undergone constructions.
The Memve’ele hydro-electric dam which shall be roiling out some 211 megawatts of electricity is expected to produce its first sparks of energy by October this year (2016).
Apart from the electricity power plant, other developmental projects have been witnessed by the population of Memve’ele.
Farmers of the locality have received Subvention worth 650 million FCFA to help boost production, in Agriculture and livestock and other income generating activities.
In 2015, 15 billion FCFA was disbursed for the electrical power project and in 2016, government mobilized 1.5 billion FCFA.
