National urban forum aims at changing the city of Yaounde

As a prelude to the first national urban Forum that opens next week, the Minister Jean Claude Mbwentchou has announced a revolution in the near future.

The national urban Forum which opens October 12 will go all the way to make the dream of the people a reality. It shall be held under the theme: "planning and control of urban development: turning ideas to deeds'.

And Minhdu, accompanied by Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Minister of communication, explained that: "there is a time for everything. There's no shame in the catch. There is need to copy what is good, confess, and to reiterate:"we want to move from ideas to action, large resolutions will come out of the forum."

The type of city referred to by Jean Claude Mbwentchou was not clearly drawn in people's minds. "There is no city type, there's just thoughtful, well-planned cities that meet certain criteria: sanitation, roads, community facilities, green spaces, playgrounds, security."

The new city will be through the improvement of the existing situation, the restructuring of the shantytowns, and also the creation of new cities. The current situation of anarchic development of metropolises is approaching chaos.

The villages are empty and everybody is heading towards the cities, which intends causes population explosion, in the absence of documents of urbanization, disorderly occupation of spaces above urbanization itself. Hence the firm decision of the authorities to control and monitor these constructions.

The forum will strengthen advocacy within the major public and private entities before moving on to concrete things. Moreover, a snapshot of Yaoundé, such as the capital should occur in the deadline has been projected.
