Merits of group life, good citizenship and basic techniques in successful livestock and agricultural projects are lessons which some 1,080 volunteers and conscripts in the North West Region will take home to serve themselves and society after training by the National Civic Service Agency for Participation in Development (NCSAPD).
That was topical in Bamenda recently with Experts drilling trainers of trainers towards the 2014 vision of the NCSAPD. It is all about initiatives to empower some 680 Volunteers and 400 Conscripts to enable them become incubators of economic initiatives and generators of growth.
To thank for the lessons was Ndi Tamba, Research Officer from the National Civic Service Agency for Participation in Development, who featured lessons on moral rearmament, togetherness, merits of group dynamics, leadership in local communities and above all, key issues in the 2014 vision of the NCSAPD.
It was also about the Spirit of volunteerism, self-reliance development, solidarity, community work and the need to rise beyond cultural, linguistic, sociological, political and religious barriers in nation building. Ndi Tamba revealed that the trainings will also involve insertions with inputs to inspire volunteers to emerge as social leaders and local economic agents in respective communities.
Beneficiary trainers include some 35 Regional Resource persons and some Divisional and Sub-divisional Delegates of related ministerial departments who were trained to restitute the lessons to a total 170 trainers at Divisional and Sub-divisional levels covering the 34 council areas of the North West Region.
Around to oversee the trainings, the Permanent Secretary in the North West governor’s office, Absalom Monono Wolua stressed that youths are at the centre of Cameroon’s development strategy as the nation mobilises to emerge in 2035.
In all, the Volunteers are scheduled to undergo a six-month training on–the- spot in their respective Sub-divisions while trainers will subject Conscripts to 60 days of lessons in Bamenda from July 21, 2014.
