Police tackle urban disorder in Yaoundé IV

Wayside vendors installed at the roadside at Carrefour Mvog-Mbi were evicted on Wednesday morning by the police at Yaounde IV. All shops along the roadside were also demolished by the elements of the office of the Commissioner of public safety of the third district of Yaoundé (Nkolndongo).

The pavement that used to be choked with hawkers is now accessible to vehicles and passersby who can now freely circulate on both tracks without any disturbance.

Indeed, this clean-up process began on Wednesday morning and the officials were accompanied by the Hysacam Company, called to rid the remains of these lawless facilities.

According to Alain Nguen Sany, Commissioner of this police unit noted that "it was necessary to clean up this area which for some time now has become the home of multiple assaults.

The objective is to secure this area to enable the populations to go quietly about their business." "He also added that this activity falls in line with the activities of a public safety Commissioner who, in addition to the security of goods and persons shall ensure, when necessary, public safety.

As is usually the case in this type of operation, the lamentations were. "What will I do? It is through my small business that I manage to feed my family", lamented a shop owner. Nearby, a vendor of mobile phones, noted, "I have no choice. I need to find a new space for my goods. I'll have to contact my brethren in the Mokolo market to see if they can find me a shop".
