Women of the Yaounde 4 Electoral District of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) have decried violence of all forms perpetrated against women.
A round table debate was organised at the District’s headquarter in Ekounou, Yaounde on March 5, 2015 in prelude to the celebration of the 30th edition of the International Women’s Day on March 8.
Participants of the debate moderated by the Socialist Women Coordinator of the Electoral District, Djuikom Francoise, condemned violence against women.
According to the Chairman of the Yaounde IV SDF Electoral District, Ernest Amougou, the debate was organised to sensitise women on violence carried out by Boko Haram. They also urged them to discourage their children from indulging in such barbaric acts like; banditry, trafficking, substance abuse among other things.
To him, the International Women’s Day should be used to reflect on issues that affect the well-being of women in the society and not just indulge in mere celebrations.
