Several injuries were recorded during tribal clashes in the town of Kousseri region of the Far North, following a land dispute pitting Kotokos to Mousgoum.
The rapid intervention forces avoided the worst, especially since these people clashed with knives and clubs.
Although the situation has returned to normal, authorities decided to strengthen the security apparatus, while about twenty people were transported to local hospitals, some of which severely injured, according to medical sources.
According to eyewitness accounts, it is " an old land and federal conflict between the Kotoko and Mousgoum, two neighboring communities who claim this piece of land which houses among other things, the village market."
The two communities are not having their first confrontation, including that of three years ago where had been six deaths on both sides.
A situation that would lead authorities to settle the dispute definitively, especially as property and real estate are recurring conflicts between communities in Cameroon, some of which sometimes end in bloodshed and material losses.
