Social amenities prioritised in Tiko’s 2015 budget

The Tiko Council budget for the 2015 shall, among other things, focus on some infrastructural development in the municipality to give it a facelift.

The projects will include the construction of two classrooms at Government Primary School Tiko, rehabilitation of the Tiko Municipal Library, edifying the toilet and office at the Tiko Motor Park, building of a bridge at Mongo Layout, construction of stores, shades, latrines and stand taps at Missellele Market and maintenance of roads in the municipality, amongst others.

Mayor Moukondo Daniel Ngande of Tiko Council disclosed these with other projects to the councillors during the second budgetary session on December 29, 2014 to adopt the 2015 draft budget of that municipality. The Tiko Council, he said, shall function on the budget of FCFA 910,000,000, witnessing a 6.6 per cent (FCFA 57 000 000) increase from that of last year.

In his opening remarks, the Mayor expressed gratitude to all the councillors, council staff, the administration and the entire population of Tiko municipality for the relentless support, hard work and collaboration for the projects they realised in the 2014.

The Supervisory Authority of Councils in Fako Division, Zang III, instructed the Mayor and his collaborators to work in partnership with the taxation department on the field to reduce the rate of misappropriation of council revenue by some unscrupulous revenue collectors.

Setting aside funds to help the security forces and the health sector combat crime wave and any eventual health hazard in the Tiko area and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve set goals for the municipality, were also recommended. The SDO noted with satisfaction efforts by the Tiko Council to instil discipline in the transport sector especially in Mutengene.
